I feel that Jean is correct to a certain point on her view of advertising. There are some very bad ads out there about women, but there are also some ads that were in her presentation that I had absolutely no idea what the problem in it was. Sex sells and it is no secret. I don't know why they would not use a tool that is going to help them make money.
I can not think of any ads right now after seeing that presentation. I feel that she picked all the worst advertisements to show in this presentation. A man is generally taller than a woman so I don't see why that is such a big area of focus. More than anything I feel that this presentation was a femenist plea for men to be punished. On a scale of 0-100, 100 being the best presentation I've ever seen I would give this a 40 just because of its information. There was very little common ground that I had with this person. If it were a man giving this presentation I think it would have had a much more affect on me and the total audience. Also, she talked about how all the advertisements were heterosexual. That is the total way it should be. A man's and a woman's body compliment each other not two women or two men. Heterosexuality is what is normal. I mean this whole homosexual thing has just progressed way too far. The Bible talks about Adam and Eve for Christsake not ADAM and STEVE. All I'm saying is that I think homosexuality a made up thing that people to use when they don't necessairly fit in.
I would consider myself a consumer, and who in this world doesn't consider themself a consumer. If you buy things than you are a consumer. You have to buy certain things whether they treat women or men bad in their ads.
Dear Mrs. Jean Kilbourne I have a question for you. Just because a company doesn't advertise how you would like do you refuse to buy their product? If your answer to this is yes then I forsure know that you are psycho. Every company does this now a days. I agree that this form of advertising is shaping our culture, but the corporations are set out to mak a profit and they are going to do anything that they can.
So this is all I have to really say about this topic at this time. I feel that I haven't been effected by this presentation one bit. The reason for this is because I, personally, did nothing for this. People are looking to get ahead in life and this i s one way they found that works.

Feed (The Most Pointless Book Ever)
I think that the main reason that I don't enjoy reading this book one bit is because it is so unbelieveable. It is possible that this book could take place in the future, but I don't enjoy the future kind of books. Anyways, there are a group of people that the main character, Titus, hangs out with and they all have the feed. Then titus meets a girl that he likes Violet and the story follows their relationship. There is much more going on in this book but any more explaining would just be a waist of your time and my keystrokes. So with that I leave you with Feed a book that I would not recommend.

Persepolis After Thought
Persepolis in my opinion was a much better book than Cather in the Rye. I think that the fact that it was a graphic novel added to its appearance and overall experience. Two of my favorite things about Persepolis were that it was a quick read and it actually had a rising action, climax, and falling action. Persepolis seems to be a book worthy of my term project. I think I am going to research the Iranian Revolution and see how the two stories match and what is different. Please let me know what you think of this idea. I will also discover how accurate her memory was from her adolescent years.

Comics In School
I think that there should be comics in school. I have never really read comic books before Persepolis, but I think that it is a really good book so far. I feel that the pictures only enhance the quality of this book, sure there are probably some comic books that the pictures only distract you from the actual reading, but this book does not do that. Even though this book is very different for me, with it being about Iran and from an Iranian point of view, I think it has provided me with insite that I have never really thought about before. For example the scenes about running for shelter from bombs is very unique to this story.
Overall I like this book about a million times more than Catcher in the Rye and I can't wait to finish it. Unfortunately it is a fast read though.

Holden's Experience with Sunny and Maurice
The plot movement in this section of the book is very interesting because it slowly progresses into telling us why Holden is so depressed and that he thinks he just needs to be with someone. When he was offered a prostitute by Maurice in the elevator I thouhgt right away that this was some sort of trap. The Maurice character is just too shady for me. It sort of bothers me how he keeps saying that he is "yellow" in the book. I recall him saying it a couple times when he was talking to the prostitute. I think the reason why Holden chose to take the deal with Maurice is that he wanted just to have someone to talk to. The factual evidence of this is when Sunny gets to his room he isn't interested in doing anything sexual with her, he wants to just talk to her.
One major question I was left with was will he stay at this same hotel or go to a different one? The answer to this of course is that he goes home to talk with his sister, Phoebe. She seems like a very smart kid for her age. The other question that I was left with was why did he open the door right away and not have any locks on it or look the hole in the door to see who was outside.
I question Holden's thinking a lot. He definitely seems like not the sharpest tool in the shed to me. Maybe he will change his ways later in the book, but I wouldn't count on it.

Catcher in the Rye Week 1
I'm kind of wondering so many people have like turned to serial killers after reading this book. From what i can tell it isn't that bad of a book so far. I agree with Mr. Kunkle that it is a little hard to like this Holden guy but I think he has an inside view on life that most people don't have. I like how this book is a fairly easy read because of all the dialog. One character I haven't been able to get a read on yet is Holden's roommate. I'm not sure if he is a good guy that I can like or if he is a creep that is full of himself. There has to be a reason that Ackley doesnt' like him. Please leave your comments on Holden's roommate for me.
