Comics In School

I think that there should be comics in school. I have never really read comic books before Persepolis, but I think that it is a really good book so far. I feel that the pictures only enhance the quality of this book, sure there are probably some comic books that the pictures only distract you from the actual reading, but this book does not do that. Even though this book is very different for me, with it being about Iran and from an Iranian point of view, I think it has provided me with insite that I have never really thought about before. For example the scenes about running for shelter from bombs is very unique to this story.

Overall I like this book about a million times more than Catcher in the Rye and I can't wait to finish it. Unfortunately it is a fast read though.

  1. I definitely agree that Persepolis is much better than Catcher in the Rye. The pictures do enhance the story a lot. I agree that we should have more graphic novels in school. It is a different style of reading that is just as important as any other kind. In fact being able to read pictures is probably more important than words. Most messages in the world are through picture. We need to be able to interpret them fast and well.

  2. I completely agree with you on how we should have comics in school. It's not harming anyone, and if it is, then we shouldnt do a lot of other things that are much worse! The pictues explain more than words ever could in this book, it makes it have a completely different feel!
